[TQ 70544985] Cheveney [NAT] (1) Cheveney - part Elizabethan timbered house with modern additions in brick. (2) The house Cheveney (name plate) is mainly modern but the S.E. wing consists of a small rectangular two storied timber house with attics. The gables and upper parts is close studded, with plaster infillings, and the upper storey is jettied but this has been built out at the S.E. front and S.W. side in brick. The barge boards are carved, the fascias moulded. All windows and doors are modern. Tiled roof, modern chimney. See GP AO/59/3/8. (3) Checked and correct. (4) Cheveney. Grade II. A 17th century house, with 19th century additions, restored in 19th century or early 20th century, 19th century additions. (5)(6)

VICARAGE ROAD TQ 74 NW HUNTON 4/95 Cheveney 25.7.52 II
House. C17, with C19 additions, restored in C19 or early C20. Timber framed, with plaster infilling. Plain tile roof. Lobby entry plan of 2 timber-framed bays and narrow central stack bay. East elevation: 2 storeys and garret on stone plinth. Close-studded. Gable end jetty to right on shaped brackets, with applied moulded fascia. Possibly underbuilt jetty to left gable end. Gables jettied on protruding wall-plates, with shaped brackets. Moulded fillet to right gable and collar. Moulded bargeboards and pendants. Central brick ridge stack. Irregular fenestration of 3 leaded mullioned casements; two 3-light and central 4-light. Restored 10-light ovolo-moulded mullioned and transomed ground-floor bay window to right gable end. Ovolo-moulded mullion frieze-windows to first floor of left gable end. Small gable over central window. Ribbed door in moulded rectangular architrave under stack. C19 additions to rear and to right.
