Summary

A Neolithic flint axe was found in 1960 in spoil from ditch dredging on Manor Farm, Wanshurst Green. It is a large , well-made example of grey flint with a light brown patina.Its cutting edge is broken. The length is 6.5ins (16.5cm) and the width 2.7ins (7.3cm).

The axe was given to Maidstone Museum.

TQ 759452. A Ne. unpolished flint axe was found on Manor Farm, Wanshurst Green, by Mr R.W. Highwood and given to Maidstone Museum (Acc. No. 12.1961). It is a large, well made example, of grey flint with a light brown patina. broken cutting edge. Length (broken) 6.5", max. width 2.7". (1,2) Found in spoil from ditch dredging January 1960: approximate find spotindicated on 6" by Mr. Highwood at TQ 75844515. (3) No further finds are reported by Mr Highwood.
