Summary
Early medieval site discovered by watching brief on pipe trench in a coombe on the slope below Cheriton Hill and subject to further excavation. The remains were of an occupation site of late 8-early 9th century that included three rubbish pits with pottery and animal bone in the fill along with daub fragments and wattle impressions. No direct evidence of structures was encountered.
