John Adams established a cement works at Wickham Farm, South of Strood in 1881. It was purchased by Reliance Portland Cement Co. in 1890. In 1897 Martin, Earle & Co. took over the works.(1) The company became part of the British Portland Cement manufactures.(2) The site has now been cleared. (3)
