A chalk pit was formerly located at Flete. It appears on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition maP as 'Old Chalk Pit' (c.1858-73). The pit is no longer marked on any of the subsequent editions but the adjacent Farm and buildings which are known as 'Chalkhole Farm and Cottages'.
