[TQ 64477119] TILE CIST [G.S.] (Site of). (1) [TQ 64417123] (2) A circular cist of Roman tile; at first thought to have been a potter's oven; 3 1/2 ft. in diameter and 1 ft. 9in. high, was found 1921-2, during road widening operations, on Watling Street; 200 yds. east of Northumberland Bottom, Northfleet, [TQ 642713] on the north side of the new road. No funerary remains were found but two holes in the wall, both made from the outside, suggest that it was robbed. [See AD/59/83/1.] (3-5) The house appearing in the photo (Authority 3: AO:59:83:1) can be identified as that at TQ 64487122: O.S. siting accepted. There is no trace of the cist. (6)
