Summary

Evidence of several Roman hollow ways was discovered during work to widen the A253 near Monkton. The work revealed evidence of a T- junction where a primary east to west running road met another deeper and broader north east to south west running hollow. An earlier version of this junction was also observed at the site.

Area 6 of the A253 Dualling centred on approx. TR 2984 6564. Evidence of a T- junction of hollow way was discovered, where the E-W road meets the deeper and broader hollow for a NE-SW aligned route. (1)
