Site of former mill located here, demolished February 1978. Building originally a single storey timber-framed structure of mid-16th century date, with a later two storey extension built onto its west end. It later formed part of a large mill structure equiped with water wheels. Used for various processes including paper manufacture (late 18th - late 19th centuries, extraction of seed oil late 18th century and for the dyeing and finishing of leather products in the 20th century. In the late 18th century the mill house served as manorial residence of the owner. (1)
