Summary

Northdown, an English spritsail barge, was built at Whitstable in 1924. She had a succession of owners and was described as a motor barge in 1942. She was re-rigged in 1972 and formed a static reception at St Catherine's Dock, London. She was reported as laid up in 1986 and hercurrent precise coordinates are unknown.

Registration No. LONDON 148654 Precise coordinates not available, last known location of vessel reported by Society for Spritsail Barge Research. NORTHDOWN was built at Whitstable by Anderson Ridgen in 1924. She was owned successively by Burley, White Brothers in 1939, L.R.T.C., Galbraith, Wrightson in 1970 and O Emmerson. She is described as a motor barge in 1942, as being re-rigged in 1972, and as a static reception in St Katherines, and, finally, as laid up 1986. Date reported laid up taken as date of loss. (1)
