Kestrel was built in Halstow in 1896. She is described as a mud lighter in 1948 and a hulk in 1958. Her remains were reported as visible in 1986 but no sign could be seen in 2005.

Registration No. LONDON 105832 Precise coordinates not available, last known location of vessel reported by Society for Spritsail Barge Research. KESTREL was built at Halstow by Letley in 1896. She was owned by Eastwoods. She is described as a mud lighter in 1948 and a hulk in 1958. Her remains were reported visible in 1986. Date reported hulked taken as date of loss. (1). No visible remains of the barge seen in 2005 coastal survey. It may have been removed, buried under the sea wall/mud or marked in the incorrect location. (2)
