Summary

The Skinner's School was founded in 1887. It is visible on the 1898 2nd edition OS map, with two buildings and a field. In the 3rd Edition (1907-1923), a rifle range appears in the north east of the field. In the south-east, some small and unlabelled buildings appear. The rifle range disappears by the 4th edition (1929-1952), and more buildings are built encompassing the two extant. There are now (2022) 17 buildings of varying size which appear on the site. The whole site is tarmac, with the fringes and a central thing rectangle remaining green.

The Skinner's School was founded in 1887. It is visible on the 1898 2nd edition OS map, with two buildings and a field. In the 3rd Edition (1907-1923), a rifle range appears in the north east of the field. In the south-east, some small and unlabelled buildings appear. The rifle range disappears by the 4th edition (1929-1952), and more buildings are built encompassing the two extant. There are now (2022) 17 buildings of varying size which appear on the site,and the small buidlings have been demolished. The site is now tarmac, with the fringes and a central rectangle remaining green. (1)

The Old School Hall was built in 1887. On the inside the central hall is 170 ft by 30 ft long. There is a gallery overlooking the main hall. To the right of this gallery was the Old Library, now two classrooms. Above this gallery is the rest of the clock tower (one more storey followed by the roof).The School House was built in 1887. Bying Hall was inagaurated in 1900 as part of St John's Church Institute. The School acquired it in 2003. The Old Gym was constructed in 1900. It was demolished and replaced by the Michell Building in 2020. The Knox Wing was constructed in 1980. The Leopard Building was constructed in 1994. The Cecil Beeby Building was built in 2002, on the site of two classroom cabins. The New Sports Hall was built in 2012. (2)
