Archaeological evaluation in 2016 found evidence of a small Romano-British farming community dating from the 2nd to 4th centuries. A possible series of rectilinear enclosures was found, together with pits and a possible round house. Environmental evidence suggested crop processing on site with cerals such as spelt wheat, barley, flax and pea (1,2)
