A small Roman pit was discovered during road making operations at Springhead. It was located very close to the line of Roman Watling Street and was filled with Roman pottery dating to the first century AD. Possibly associated with several other Roman features which are known to have existed in the area including a possible kiln, an oven and a possible shop. (1)
