A Roman pit or well was discovered during works associated with drainage trench digging at Springhead. the feature was not examined in detail but it is likely that it related the former sites of Roman building which are suggested by flint walling in the immediate vicinity of this feature. The pit was unlined and measured approximately 1m in diameter and was 3m in depth. It contained pottery and domestic rubbish. (1)
