Summary

In 1963 a Romano-British jar was uncovered during the construction of a soakaway on a new road at a housing estate at Offham. It's location was described as 3-4ft [aproximately 1m] below ground. It is of orange or red ware, possibly Patchgrove, and of the 1st century. It has a high shoulder with an outcurving rim.

It is kept at Maidstone Museum.

A Roman 1st c. jar was found, 10th May 1963, 3-4ft. below ground level during the construction of a soakaway for a road on a small housing estate at Offham. The jar, of orange/red (? Patchgrove) ware with a high shoulder and outcurving rim, is now in Maidstone Museum (Acc. No.33. 1963). The finder, Mr. Mr. T.C. Martin, indicated the find-spot at TQ 65565747.(1)
