During evaluation trenching and excavation ahead of development at Springhead, a number of mid-late Iron Age features were uncovered including several post holes which represent the former site of a rectangular structure. This was positioned within a large Iron Age enclosure. The evidence for this feature comprised 6 post holes in three pairs each pair 2m apart. It was 4.6m in length and 1.9m wide. No post pipes or evidence or post packing were identified in any of the post holes and only a very small amount of Iron Age pottery was located in association with the structure. The small size of the structure suggests that it is unlikely to represent a domestic structure, an ancillary function, perhaps for crop storage is suggested. (1)
