During archaeological excavations ahead of development at Springhead, evidence of mid-late Bronze Age activity was uncovered. Much of the evidence comprised part of a large field system, a series of post holes were located within the enclosed areas and may represent the former site of a fence. During archaeological excavations ahead of development at Springhead, evidence of mid-late Bronze Age activity was uncovered. Much of the evidence comprised part of a large field system, a series of post holes were located within the enclosed areas and may represent the former site of a fence. The post holes were aligned NE-SW and followed the same approximately line as the trackway and may be contemporary with it. They were possibly to aid the control of animal movement. (1)
