These cottages were originally built in the 15th century as the Oarish Poorhouse. However, in the late 18th century the were converted into Almshouses. They are shown as a Workhouse on the old Tithe map, as 2 cottages on the 1865-72, 1897-1900, 1907-23 and 1929-52 maps. On the current O/S map they are named as The Old Workhouse. No further information is available.
