The former Almshouses, Farningham Ropers, are shown on the 1862-75 map. The building is shown on the 1897-1900, 1907-23, 1929-52 and current O/S maps. At sometime it would appear that the building was converted into a private residence.
Anthony Roper, a former Mayor of Farningham, who died in 1597 left a legacy for 'charitable purposes' for the benefit of the people of Eynesford, Farningham, Crockenhill and Horton Kirby.
