The Wynn Ellis Almshouses were built as a Charitable Trust in 1873, on the site of Pearson's Arms, by Wynn Ellis in memory of his wife Mary Pearson. The buildings are shown on the 1897-1900, 1907-23, 1929-52 and current O/S maps. They are still in use.
