The British School for boys and girls, set up by the British & Foreign Schools Society, was opened in 1814, as shown on the 1862 -75 map. Infants started attending in 1835. The building continued to be used as a school, as shown on the 1897-1900, 1907-23 and 1929-52 maps. It was the demolished and private residences built on the site, as shown on the current O/S map.
