The former National School in Wingham was opened in 1820 for girls and later for boys, as shown on the 1862-75 map. The building continued as a school, as shown on the 1897-1900, 1907-23 and 1929-52 maps. It was the extended and converted into Oakfield House Retirement Home, as shown on the current O/S map.
