During an archaeological watching brief undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust on three small pits located within the outer bailey of Dover Castle, a midden deposit of a likely Medieval date was uncovered. The deposit was dark and fairly thick, though it is unfortunate that no datable finds were recovered. A further investigation of this deposit would be useful if the opportunity should arise at some stage in the future. (1)
