The Maidstone Union Workhouse was built on Heath Road, Coxheath in 1836 and demolished in 1994. It is shown on the 1862-75, 1897-1900, 1907-23 and 1929-52 maps. The 1st edition map indicates it housed Boys & Girls. The 4th edition map shows Coxheath Institution under Maidstone Public Assistance Committee.A new Day Care Centre has been built on the site.
