Summary

A large brickworks is shown at Bill Street from the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map onwards (1862-1875). By the time of the 1st edition map the site included a kiln. By the 2nd edition (1897-1900) the kiln is no longer shown but buildings have begun to be constructed in the centre of the site. By the 3rd edition (1907-1923) these have increased in complexity but by the 4th edition (1929-52) the brickworks has been replaced by allotment gardens.

Brickworks are shown either side of Cooling Road, Wainscott, from the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map onwards (1897-1900). The first works was on the western side and by the 3rd edition OS map (1907-1923) this had been joined by an additional works and a kiln to the east of the road. The works were still visible on 1947 aerial photographs but are now built over. (1)
