In the 1930s Berry Wiggins & co. established an oil refinery on the site of the former RNAS Kingsnorth site reusing many of the same buildings and a jetty. The site was not well placed to access deep water, however, and in due course Berry Wiggins constructed a 2.5 km long jetty. (1)
