Summary

Two decorated corner stones from the chancel of St. Martins Priory were located during excavations on Effingham Street In 1936. It it understood that the majority of the remains of Church of St. Martins Priory is situated beneath Effingham and Saxon Street. The Stones are now in Dover Museum. Two decorated corner stones from the chancel of St. Martins Priory were located during excavations on Effingham Street In 1936. It it understood that the majority of the remains of Church of St. Martins Priory is situated beneath Effingham and Saxon Street, and a record of the remains was made during the construction of the dwellings on these streets in the later 19th century.(1) The Stones are now in Dover Museum.(2)
