Title:An archaeological watching brief at the Old Rectory, Cliffe, Kent
Originator:AW Heritage Services
Date:2014
Summary:The development of a listed building in Cliffe required archaeologists to oberve the on site ground works. The watching brief revealed a previously unknown foundation, which suggests that a short corridor or porch was part of the original 14th century structure. This was then demolished during alterations in the late 15th-early 16th century when a new windw was installed. The window was itself blocked off by the addition of the surviving brick porch, which probably dates to works completed in 1679.
