The site of a Second World War light anti aircraft (Diver) battery at Hythe. This was armed with three anti aircraft tanks and twin Oerlikon guns at some time in August 1944. The manning details are unknown. (1)

The anti aircraft battery referred to above (Source 1) was not visible on the available historical aerial photographs viewed as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The battery was only in use for a short time, and likely was located on the Marine Parade or South Road, which would not have left features visible on the 1945 or 1946 photography. (2)
