The cluster of mounds and craters is centred at TR 0780 2292 to the west of the junction between Dunes Road and Coast Drive, and extends across an area measuring approximately 72m east to west and 53m north to south. The four circular mounds measure between three and four metres in diameter, and have no obvious Second World War military function. They are located in agricultural land, and as such have been interpreted as possible post-medieval stack stands.

Five probable Second World War bomb craters lie just to the east of this group, with a single further bomb crater located just to the west. It is thought possible that the mounds of the stack stands may have been mistaken for some form of military feature, and so were targeted in a bombing raid. This is however a tenuous interpretation, and other explanations may be possible.

By the time of the next available vertical aerial photograph of 1959, no sign of these mounds and craters was visible, either in earthwork or cropmark form. The mounds are very similar in both size and appearance to another group of possible stack stands located approximately 570m to the north-west (Monument Number 1533976) (1-2).
