The linear group of bomb craters is centred at TR 0767 2311, and extends across an area measuring approximately 270m south-east to north-west and a maximum of 25m south-west to north-east. The long axis of the group is parallel to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, which lies approximately 92m to the north-east (Monument Number 1357333). It is possible that that railway was the intended target of the bombing raid. A single outlying bomb crater is visible at TR 0784 2303, adjacent to the railway.

The craters all measure approximately four metres in diameter, and they all have a narrow banked rim around the edge. It is thought this may be a result of the loose shingle characteristic of the ground in this area, which would have been upcast by the explosion. By the time of the next available vertical aerial photograph of 1959, no sign of these bomb craters was visible, either in earthwork or cropmark form (1-2).
