A Second World War minefield is visible as parallel of rows of shallow pits or disturbed sand on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s. The minefield is located immediately behind the beach within the Hythe Firing Ranges (Monument Number 1531850). The minefield is also surrounded by barbed wire obstructions, which act as another line of defence. The barbed wire obstructions and mines were removed after the war.

A Second World War minefield is visible as parallel of rows of shallow pits or disturbed sand on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. The minefield is located immediately behind the beach within the Hythe Firing Ranges (Monument Number 1531850) and extends from TR 1405 3311 to TR 1343 3333. The minefield is also surrounded by barbed wire obstructions, which act as another line of defence. The barbed wire obstructions and mines were removed after the war. (1-2)
