An area of cropmarks representing banks of unknown date or function visible on aerial photographs taken in 1976 [1], located in Walmer. These features were visible as parch marks, thus likely represented banking. Four irregular areas of disturbance were noted, running NNE-SSW along the W edge of the field. The features spanned an area 400 x 62m at maximum dimensions and were located within one field. The southernmost feature was cropped by photography and no further images were available to complete the mapping. Aerial photography taken in 1942 and 1946 [2 and 3] showed no WWII activity on the site which resembled these cropmarks, thus the features must pre-date 1942. The features were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
