WWII defensive earthworks visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and 1946 [1, 2 and 3], located between Kingsdown and Walmer. This record details nine sets of earthworks located within an area measuring 660 x 120m and running NNE-SSW. Working SSW towards the NNE these features included: an L-shaped bank within an enclosure; two linear ditches within enclosures; three linears which individually ran WNW-ESE, but were located NNE-SSW in relation to one another; two banked ditches; one roughly circular bank; a banked ditch; and a roughly circular bank. Similar features were seen to the W of these, but were not mapped as they lay outside the study area for the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. The features were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4 and 5].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
