WWII military site visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 [1] and partially in 1941 [2], located in Kingsdown. The site measured 190 x 60m at maximum extents and was located at the high water mark. In 1941 only the single line of an open-ended enclosure was visible, perhaps represented by a line of barbed wire. In 1946 eight roughly circular ditches between 3.5m and 2m at maximum diameter were visible within this enclosure, probably foxholes. Two banks were also visible to the S of this feature. A single line of barbed wire enclosed this site to the S and continued along the coast to the S (MWX43628). This site was not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [3 and 4] and part of the area was seen to be in the intertidal zone.

To the E lay a double line of WWII beach scaffolding which narrowed to just one line alongside this site (MWX43630).

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
