WWII military site visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945 and 1947 [1 and 2], located in Dover. These buildings were not visible on historic OS mapping dated to 1938 [3]. Other buildings in close proximity were seen to be similar in form, but were not mapped due to their presence on the historic mapping. The site measured approximately 310m x 160m at maximum dimensions. It was comprised of fifteen buildings, two of which were connected by a thin structure. This collection of buildings was no longer visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4], when the area was seen to have been redeveloped.

Lying within and just to the SE of the site were four air raid shelters (MWX43470) which may have been related to this site.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.

The complex is on the site of a former military hospital but this is believed to have gone out of use by the Second World War during which period the site may have been a military barracks.(5)
