WWII possible small barrage balloon site visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945 [1], but not visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 [2], located in Dover. This feature was circular with a maximum diameter of 14.5m. It was located on a slope, so was mapped as banked on the N side and ditched on the S side. Some internal features were defined with an extent of area line and a structure polygon. The site lay 120m W of the North Centre Bastion of Western Heights (MKE7019 and NMR 468101). A building (MWX43605) was also visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945, but not in 1942, that lay 25m E of this feature. Thus it is possible that these were functionally linked. The site was set S of domestic buildings and allotments. The site was seen to be below a housing development on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [3].

This site lay in an area of WWII features, alongside lay one potential gun position or shelter (MWX43603), a military building (MWX43605) and two large cut features (MWX43602 and MWX43604).

A transcription of the feature recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
