A probable WWII gun position is visible on the northern side of the River Stour at Little Stonar on RAF vertical aerial photographs from the 1940s [1]. The gun position is defined by a bank, c. 2-3m wide and c-shaped in plan with an apparent entrance gap in its north-west, enclosing a sub-circular area measuring c.4m across. Examination of recent aerial photography indicates that these features appear to have since been plough-levelled [2].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [3].
