WWII slit trenches visible in 1942 and 1945, located in Dover. This was a concentrated area of slit trenches, the longer trenches were mostly flanked by banking. Some of the ditches were still just visible as cropmarks in 2007.

WWII slit trenches visible on aerial photography taken in 1942 and 1945 [1 and 2], located in Dover. This record represents a concentrated area of slit trenches, all of which followed a crenulated pattern. The longer trenches were mostly flanked by banking, while the shorter trenches seem to have been just ditched. The area was 480m x 200m. Some of the ditches were still just visible as cropmarks on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2007 [3 and 4].

These trenches were located S of a military complex (MWX43542), N of Langdon Battery (Mke41979) and NE of a military prison (MKe17270). They cut across another military site (MWX43543) and military water reservoirs (MKE17287). Additional slit trenches were seen to the W (MWX43577 and MWX43578) and E (MWX43580 and MWX43581).
