Additional defensive features were added to the perimeter of Stonar Camp (Mke42001) in WWII and are visible on RAF vertical aerial photographs taken in the 1940s [1]. They are composed of a section of bank and a section of slit-trenching. The bank is wavy in plan and lies at the southern extreme of the camp buildings, following a curving SSW to ESE alignment for c.90m. The slit-trenching lies at the northern edge of a playing field lying at the southern edge of the camp. It is c.60m long and follows a zig-zag course with a total of three rectangular firing bays at intervals along its course.
The features appear to have been removed by subsequent development as the site has been extensively redeveloped on several occasions since the later 20th century, as visible on recent aerial photography of the site [2].
