If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

Two curvilinear features visible as cropmarks are located beside the Betteshanger Colliery. The two banks form a possible boundary feature that may date to the Bronze Age or Iron Age periods. A large section of this feature has been developed over some time between 1981 and 2003 [1] and so consequently may have been lost.

The bank features were mapped from aerial photography taken in April 1978 [2]; the northern feature is visible for 375m and the southern one for c.570m on this photograph.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
