Large sub-circular earthwork, with internal ditch and outer banking. The ditch diameter was approximately 20m wide, with the outer banking between 7m to 8m in width. Positioned to the south of Western Heights, West Dover, on the rampart, the feature was closely situated to the north of a series of slit trenchs from WWI or WWII. It was observed from military aerial photographs from December 1941 [1] and was last observed clearly in April 1950 [2]. In aerial photography from August 1968 [3] a new housing development was observed in the area of both the earthwork and the slit trench's. The feature was mapped from photographs taken in April 1947 [4].
The Defence of Britian Project records this area as a WWII minefield, however this is unclear from aerial photography.
