Using RAF aerial photography three WWII bomb craters are visible at the site of the Great Farthingloe Anti-Aircraft Batteryto the west of Dover. All three sub-circular craters and upcast were mapped and first observed from December 1941 [1] in close proximity to the accommodation camp to the east of the HAA. The crater to the west with a diameter of impact 9m wide was approximately 50m away from the accommodation camp. 30m to the south of the accommodation camp a crater of 6.5m wide was recorded and 80m to the south east a crater with an 8m diameter was observed.

All three bomb craters were last observed in December 1945 [2]. The crater to the west of the accommodation camp was last observed in November 1946 [3].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
