Summary

Two large irregularly shaped cropmarks are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. These cropmarks are interpreted as the plough-levelled remains of salt mounds of probable medieval date. Both are overlain by cropmarks of ridge and furrow (MWX43302).

Two large cropmarks are visible on 1940s RAF vertical aerial photographs [1]. The southernmost cropmark is sub-circular in plan and measures c.30 m in diameter. The northernmost cropmark lies 20m to the NEt and is banana-shaped in plan, it measures c.60 long by 10m wide. They are interpreted as the plough-levelled remains of salt mounds of probable medieval date. Both are overlain by cropmarks of ridge and furrow (MWX43302).
