Three Second World War military structures on the coast at Dumpton Bay, mapped from military aerial photographs taken in 1942.

The three structures are located within 70m of each other and are situated overlooking the access route from the beach at Dumpton Bay inland. Starting with the most westerly building, their dimensions are as follows, 4.5m by 3.5m, 7m by 4m, and 2.5m squared. It is possible that the two smaller of the three buildings could be pillboxes.

The structures were first visible on aerial photographs taken in May 1942 [1]. The largest structure in the centre is still evident today, whereas the other two are gone by April 1946 [2].

A pillbox has been located in the vicinity but was not seen on aerial photographs (Mke39684). It is possible that the location for the pillbox was inaccurate and is actually referring to one of the structures within this monument.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [3].
