Second World War emergency water supply (EWS) tank and associated military features, located NW of Broadstairs harbour, and mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1942.

The square EWS tank measures 25m squared and is surrounded on three sides with the spoil from the excavated hole. A rectangular structure (a possible pillbox), measuring 3.3m long and 1.8m wide, is located 40m to the north and is probably associated with the EWS tank. A machine gun emplacement, with dimensions of 4m by 3.5m, is located 27m to the north of the tank and would have been a defensive measure for the EWS tank.

The EWS tank and associated features were not visible on photographs taken in January 1941 [2], but are visible on a series taken in May 1942 [1], from which they were mapped. By April 1946 the tank is being dismantled and has been backfilled and levelled by August 1947. By June 1980 the area has been redeveloped for housing.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [3].
