Summary

Gold Nugget Wharf, at Colemouth Creek is marked on the Ordnance Survey historic maps (1858-1940). The site was visited during an assessment of the north Kent coast by Wessex Archaeology in 2004. Part of the wharf frontage was still visible marked by a row upright and trasnverse timbers. Brick wasters and pottery were also identified, possibly dumped to make ground behind the wharf.

Gold Nugget wharf marked on 1st Ed. OS (1). Photographs (2-4). In 2004, wharf frontage is still visible marked by a row of substantial upright squared timbers approximately 20 cm square in section, upright approx. 2 metres apart. There are large transverse timbers attached with iron bolts. Brick wasters and pottery lie behind the wharf frontage, perhaps dumped there to make ground behind the wharf. (5)
