Type of record:Monument
Name:South (central) drain of the Roman military bath house, Dover

Summary

During excavations undertaken in Dover town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, a Roman military bath house was excavated and recorded. A series of at least five drains appear to have served the bath house, the south (central) drain took water from room six, south and under the courtyard. This drain had been almost totally destroyed but it is likely to have once been a major drain capped with greensand blocks, traces of which were uncovered to the south of the area encompassed in this excavation.
