Summary

During excavations undertaken in Dover town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, a Roman military bath house was excavated and recorded. A series of at least five drains appear to have served the bath house, the north-eastern drain was located leading through the north wall of room nine, suggesting that this room once contained a cold bath (not located). (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information).

During excavations undertaken in Dover town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, a Roman military bath house was excavated and recorded. A series of at least five drains appear to have served the bath house, the north-eastern drain was located leading through the north wall of room nine, suggesting that this room once contained a cold bath (not located).

It was built of flint set in a white mortar 30-53cm wide by 30-35cm high. (1)
