The former site of Council House Street is apparent on early post medieval mapping on the eastern side on 'Paradise Pent'. This would have been one of the main thoroughfares in Dover’s historic Pier District (which has today been mostly demolished and absorbed within the harbour works). William Eldred's plans of this area, dating to 1631 (1) and 1641 (sheet 7/8), shows the street (on the latter labelled 'Councell Hous Strete') bounded on both sides by buildings and curving around the north eastern side of 'Paradise Pent' (which was infilled in the later post medieval period). (2)

Further historic cartographic sources which depict the location of this street include that by Foquet dating to 1737 (3) Hogben dating to 1769 (4)

The exact date of the construction and demolition of this street and its associated buildings is unknown but the southern half of the street is not present on mapping dating to the second half of the 20th century.
